Purity: A Poem and a Message.

Waiting for true love to come
Hoping that she will find the one
But while she waits for that time to be
She will remain pure for all to see
For her Lord and Savior would want it that way
She will not in the least bit stray
Until she makes her vow one day
To love, cherish, and obey.

That poem I wrote just yesterday. It talks about something very important. It talks about purity.

What does the Bible say about purity and remaining pure? I think the Bible has quite a bit to say about it.

"Now flee from youthful lusts and pursue righteousness, faith, love, and peace, with those who call on the Lord from a pure heart." 2 Timothy 2:22

"For this is the will of God, your sanctification; that is, that you abstain from sexual immorality; that each of you know how to possess his own vessel in sanctification and honor, not in lustful passion, like the Gentiles who do not know God;" 1 Thessalonians 4:3-5

"Food is for the stomach and the stomach is for food but God will do away with both of them. Yet the body is not for immorality, but for the Lord, and the Lord is for the body." I Corinthians 6:13

"Watch over your heart with all diligence, For from it flow the springs of life. Put away from you a deceitful mouth And put devious speech far from you. Let your eyes look directly ahead And let your gaze be fixed straight in front of you. Watch the path of your feet And all your ways will be established. Do not turn to the right nor to the left; Turn your foot from evil." Proverbs 4:23-27

"How can a young man keep his way pure? By keeping it according to Your word." Psalm 119:9

The bible speaks about purity and remaining pure. These are only a few verses in regards to this subject. Now that I have written down some Bible verses that talk about purity I will tell you what my thoughts are on the subject.

Well here it goes...

I believe that people should remain pure for their future spouses. Lots of people have their own version of what purity looks like. A lot of people in general think that it is okay to do things as long as it isn't actually sex. I know I said that word and I don't like to hear people say that word either but I don't know what other word to use. As I was saying they think it is okay to be flirtatious and to kiss each other. I don't believe this is staying pure. In my opinion I think that you shouldn't kiss anyone until the day you are married. Not until you say I do on your wedding day. I would even go so far as to say that even if you are engaged you shouldn't kiss your fiancee. This is only my opinion and I can hazard to guess that some will disagree with me. But this is what I plan on doing in my vow to remain pure. My first kiss will be given to my husband at the altar and not before then.

Sometimes people can be stubborn and think that their view is the right way. They think that they are going the right way and doing the right thing. They know what they are doing or so they think? But our mind can become very clouded in what we want to believe and want to happen and not what God has planned for our life. We need to fully lean on Him and surrender everything to Him. Not part of our lives but all of it. Only then can He clear our vision and show us that what we really need to do is focus on Him right now and what he has laid right in front of us.

I'm not saying this to admonish you but rather to ask you to take a look at your life for a second and see if you are walking in a manner that is right before the Lord with your purity and remaining pure as all believers should.

I needed to look at this myself. I learned in the process of writing this post. I know that I'm imperfect too. I struggle with being stubborn and thinking my way is the right way when it comes to things. I struggle sometimes with focusing on what the Lord has for me right now. Sometimes my thoughts drift to the future which isn't always necessarily a bad thing. The part that hit me the hardest was that I was not giving everything to Him in my life. I was not fully relying on God and trusting in Him to take care of it all. Though I struggle with this part I don't want to. I want to give it all to Him and just let Him lead me through it all. I don't want to be in control. I want Christ to be fully in control of my life for both now and forevermore.

Tracts at CSUN

So last Tuesday one of my classes was canceled so I was given about an hour or so break right around lunch time. Usually I don't get to eat lunch on Tuesday and Thursday because classes are 15 minutes apart and I don't have the time. Well I was given the hour so I was able to have some lunch.

After lunch I went to the bookstore to buy some materials for an exam I would be taking on Thursday. I went up to the register to pay. The lady that I went to saw I was buying test supplies and scantrons.

She told me "Good luck on your exams."

I said "Thanks a million." :)

She looks at it and starts to laugh. She says to her coworkers behind the register "Look what I got" and held it high in the air for everyone to see. I smiled and left.

I also went to a different store to buy a snack. I walked up to the register. A saw that this guy was a new person working the register. You can always tell that a person is new at a job. I was able to tell by the way he was unsure how to do things.

After paying I gave him a million dollar bill. He looks confused on what he should do with it.. He then asked his supervisor or whoever was helping him "Can I keep it?" lol.

He then read the back some and said "Thanks."

What a great day. Hopefully they kept the million dollar bills that I gave them and will read it.
